Joseph received his Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from the University of Toronto in 1983 and his Masters of Public Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1985. He then obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Windsor in 1989 and was called to the Bar in 1991.
His exclusive area of practice has been personal injury and medical malpractice litigation. Joseph’s personal injury practice focuses on representing persons who have sustained spinal cord injuries, neurological injuries, traumatic brain injuries or other orthopaedic injuries. He also represents victims of medical malpractice specifically in the areas of obstetrics, neurology, orthopaedics and cardiology.
Joseph has considerable trial, arbitration and appellate expertise in his areas of practice and has lectured in the area of insurance law from the litigation perspective and in the rehabilitation context. Along with his team, he brings experience, professionalism and compassion to advocating on behalf of his clients. He is a former Director of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association.
Joseph has also acted as a consultant to the British Columbia government regarding reforms to the insurance regime in British Columbia. He has been an invited speaker to the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Insight Group, the Canadian Spinal Research Organization, the Ontario Paraplegic Association, the Hamilton/Peel Brain Injury Association, the County of Kent Brain Injury Association and the Windsor Brain Injury Association.
Joseph is currently on the Board of Directors of the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation. The foundation works with consumers, researchers, practitioners, policy and decision makers to create not only a research agenda but also a mobilization agenda to create the necessary changes to reduce and/or eliminate this devastating injury and to improve the quality of life for those Ontarians living with neurotrauma injury.
Joseph is the Vice-Chair on the Board of Governors of the Humber River Hospital Foundation. Humber River Hospital Foundation supports the patient care provided at Humber River Hospital – one of the largest hospitals in the GTA and now home to North America’s first fully digital hospital.
In addition, Joseph is a Board Member of the Diabetes Hope Foundation, whose mission is to enhance the lives of children and adolescents living with diabetes.
Joseph is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada.
